Biography & Career
Coming from the "four mallet school", Gustavo Agatiello strives to refine a pianistic approach to mallet playing through the consistent use of all four mallets along with a variety of dampening techniques.
A scholarship from Berklee College Of Music took Gustavo to Boston, where he studied with vibist Ed Saindon.
Soon after graduation, Gustavo was invited to join the prestigious mallet faculty at Berklee College Of Music, where he currently teaches Vibraphone, Marimba, Mallet Labs, Keyboard Musicianship For Percussionists, Harmonic Considerations In Improvisation & Ensembles.
Gustavo is an active player leading his own projects. As a side man he has performed alongside Herb Pomeroy, Yoron Israel Connection & Organic, Bill Pierce, Ed Saindon, amongst others. Gustavo has conducted clinics on vibraphone and improvisation throughout Europe, Asia, South America and the US. He is a contributing author for Percussive Arts Society's "Percussive Notes" magazine. Gustavo is a Musser (M55 Pro Vibe) and Vic Firth (M38) artist.
